Welcome
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are the agreement between you and Credit And Cashmere LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company (“Credit & Cashmere,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your use of:
- The website at creditandcashmere.com and all subpaths
- The Ledger — our financial tools web app at creditandcashmere.com/app/ — on both the free tier and a paid membership
- Legacy spreadsheet products we sold before The Ledger (see Section 8)
- Any communications you receive from us (email, social, support)
By using any of the above, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use them. Simple as that.
The whole deal, in five lines.
- The Ledger is a membership: $12/month or $89/year. The first 100 members at launch become Founding Members — $89/year with the price locked for as long as they stay (Section 6).
- Three tools are free forever. No card, no clock, not a trial.
- Memberships renew automatically until you cancel — and we email you before every renewal charge.
- Cancel in two taps from your profile. No retention screens, no guilt. Your data stays where you left it.
- Full refund within 30 days of any charge — first payment or renewal, any tier. No questions.
1. Who Can Use Credit & Cashmere
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, buy a membership, or submit content.
- You give us accurate information when you register, and you keep it current.
- One account per person. Your membership is for you, not for you and three friends.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account.
- We may suspend accounts that show signs of unauthorized sharing.
- If you’re using the site on behalf of a business, you confirm you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms.
You need an account before you can buy. There is no logged-out checkout. You sign up free, use the free tools, and upgrade from inside the app — so your membership always attaches to the account you’re actually signed into.
2. What The Ledger Is (and What It Isn’t)
The Ledger is a web app at creditandcashmere.com/app/. It runs in any modern browser, on your phone or your laptop. There is nothing to install and nothing physical to ship.
2a. Educational tools, not financial advice
The Ledger is an organizational and educational tool. Credit And Cashmere LLC is not a licensed financial advisor, registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, debt counselor, tax professional, or law firm, and nothing in the app or our content is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice tailored to you. The tools calculate estimates from the numbers you type in. See the full Disclaimer.
2b. No bank connections. Ever.
The Ledger does not connect to your bank accounts — not now, not later. We do not use Plaid or any other account-aggregation service. We do not screen-scrape. We will never ask you for a banking login. Every number in The Ledger is one you entered by hand. That is a deliberate choice about what we are willing to hold, not a feature we haven’t gotten to yet.
2c. The free tier is free forever
These tools are free to anyone with an account, with no card required and no time limit. They are not a trial:
- Snowball / Avalanche Calculator — full tool
- No-Spend Challenge — full tool
- Monthly Budget LITE — the current month, up to 4 categories
[[LOLA: confirm Monthly Budget LITE ships on the free tier at launch. If it does not, remove it from this list before publishing — do not promise a shelf that isn’t stocked.]]
2d. Membership is all-access
One membership opens every premium tool in The Ledger, plus your saved history and trends. We do not sell tools individually, and we don’t plan to. There is no add-on to buy once you’re a member.
2e. Tools can change
We build, improve, and occasionally retire tools. Members automatically receive updates and new premium tools at no extra charge while their membership is active. If we discontinue The Ledger or an individual tool inside it, you get notice and a way to take your data with you — see Section 6.
3. Membership Pricing and Payment
3a. What it costs
- $12 per month, billed monthly
- $89 per year, billed yearly
- Founding Member — $89 per year, billed yearly, with the price locked at $89 for as long as your membership stays active. Open to the first 100 members at launch (see Section 6)
All prices are in USD. Sales tax and VAT, where they apply, are calculated and shown at checkout before you pay.
3b. Paddle is the seller of record
Paddle is the merchant of record for every Ledger purchase. When you buy a membership, your contract of sale is with Paddle, and Paddle:
- Processes the payment
- Is responsible for collecting and remitting sales tax and VAT
- Issues your invoice and receipt
- Handles refunds and chargebacks
Paddle’s own buyer terms apply to your transaction, in addition to these Terms. These Terms govern your relationship with us and your use of The Ledger; Paddle’s terms govern the payment itself. Where the two genuinely conflict on a payment matter, Paddle’s terms control that payment.
Credit And Cashmere LLC never sees or stores your card number. We see the last four digits, the card type, and whether the charge succeeded — nothing else. Your card details go to Paddle, not to us.
[[LOLA: counsel to confirm the exact Paddle contracting entity to name here (e.g. the Paddle entity that acts as merchant of record for US buyers), and whether Paddle’s buyer terms should be linked from this page.]]
3c. Your payment authorization
When you buy a monthly or yearly membership, you authorize recurring charges to your chosen payment method at the price shown at checkout, on the billing cycle shown at checkout, until you cancel. Section 4 explains exactly how that works and how to stop it.
4. Automatic Renewal and Cancellation
4a. What renews, and when
- A monthly membership renews every month on the same date, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel.
- A yearly membership renews every year on the same date, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel.
- A Founding Membership renews every year on the same date, at $89 — the rate is locked, so it renews at the same price it always has, until you cancel (Section 6).
4b. We email you before every renewal charge
This is a promise, not a courtesy. Before every renewal charge — monthly or yearly, the first renewal and every one after it — we send you an email telling you what is about to be charged, when, and how to cancel if you’d rather not be. You will never be surprised by a charge from us.
[[LOLA: confirm the reminder lead time (the build plan says the job fires ~7 days before renewal). Counsel will want a specific number of days stated here, and some state auto-renewal laws prescribe a notice window — especially for yearly terms.]]
4c. Cancel in two taps
You can cancel from your profile inside the app. It takes two taps. There is no retention maze: no “are you sure?” gauntlet, no discount ambush, no guilt screen, no phone call, no form to explain yourself.
If the button ever fails you, email [email protected] with “Cancel” in the subject line and we’ll do it for you.
4d. What happens when you cancel
- Cancellation stops the next charge. It takes effect at the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- You keep full access until then. Cancelling on day 2 of a paid month does not lock you out on day 2.
- After that, your account drops to the free tier. It stays open. The free tools stay free.
- We do not delete your data when you cancel. What you entered stays in your account — see Section 4f.
- Cancelling does not by itself create a refund. Refunds are governed by Section 5.
4e. A declined card is not a cancellation
If a renewal charge fails, we don’t assume you’re gone. Paddle will retry the charge over several days and we’ll email you so you can update your payment method. Your membership only ends when the payment has finally and definitively failed. Locking a paying member out over a card glitch is the opposite of how we want to run this.
4f. What happens to your data if you leave
Leaving does not cost you your work. Here is exactly what we do with it.
- We keep it for 12 months after you cancel. Every number, every category, every month you logged — it stays in your account, intact. Come back in week three or month eleven and it is all still there, where you left it.
- You can export everything, any time, in one click. Before you cancel, after you cancel, or for no reason at all. It is your data and you should be able to walk out with it.
- After 12 months, we delete it permanently. We don’t sit on the financial records of people who have moved on.
- You can delete it yourself, immediately, whenever you want. You don’t have to wait out the 12 months, and you don’t have to ask us.
Billing records are held separately for the 7-year window US tax law requires. The full picture is in the Privacy Policy.
5. Refunds — One Rule
A full refund within 30 days of any charge. First payment or renewal. Any tier. You ask, we refund — no questions, no form, no one trying to talk you out of it.
- The 30 days run from the date of the charge — so every renewal has its own fresh 30-day window, not just your first payment.
- To request one, email [email protected] with “Refund” in the subject line, from the email address on your account. That’s the whole process. You do not owe us a reason.
- Refunds are processed through Paddle, the merchant of record, back to your original payment method. Paddle typically returns the money within 5–10 business days.
- Refunding a charge ends the membership that charge paid for. For a Founding Membership, a refund ends the membership and releases the founding place, along with the locked rate that came with it.
- After 30 days, that charge is final — but you can cancel at any time to stop the next one, and you keep access through the period you paid for.
- Legacy spreadsheet purchases made on Etsy are refunded under Etsy’s policies, not this section (Section 8).
Nothing in this section limits any refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer law of the place you live.
6. Founding Membership
At launch, the first 100 members become Founding Members. A Founding Membership is the yearly membership at $89 a year — with one difference that lasts: your price never goes up.
6a. What the rate lock actually is
You pay $89 a year, the same as any yearly member. When we raise the price — and one day we will — the increase does not reach you. Your renewal stays $89 for as long as your membership stays active. That is the whole benefit, and we would rather state it plainly than dress it up.
To be exact about what this is and isn’t:
- It is a price protection, not a one-time payment. You keep paying yearly, like everyone else.
- It is not permanent access in exchange for a single charge, and we don’t offer that. A business that promises to run forever on one payment is making a promise it cannot keep.
- The lock holds while your membership stays active. If you cancel and later come back, you rejoin at whatever the price is then — the founding rate does not follow you back.
6b. If we ever retire a tool, or close The Ledger
If we discontinue The Ledger, or retire an individual tool inside it:
- We give you at least 60 days’ written notice by email, before access ends.
- We give you a way to export your data in a usable format, so what you built is yours to keep.
- We stop billing you. You are not charged for a service we are winding down.
- We will say what is happening plainly, in an email you can read once and understand.
6c. The fine print
- A Founding Membership is for one person and is non-transferable. You can’t sell it, gift it, or hand it to someone else.
- It is tied to your account. If you close your account, the founding place and the locked rate go with it.
- It includes every premium tool we operate, including tools we build later, for as long as your membership is active.
- It does not include 1:1 advice, custom builds, or services beyond the app itself.
- There are 100 founding places, allocated in the order people join at launch. When they are taken, the yearly membership carries on at its then-current price.
- The 30-day refund window in Section 5 applies to it, same as everything else.
7. Price Changes
- We may change our prices. New prices apply to new purchases immediately.
- Existing members get advance notice by email before a price change takes effect on their membership, and can cancel before it does. If you cancel, you are not charged the new price.
- A price change never applies retroactively to a charge already made.
- Founding Members keep $89 a year. A price increase does not reach them for as long as their membership stays active (Section 6).
[[LOLA: confirm the advance-notice period for price changes — 30 days is the usual floor, and several state auto-renewal laws require notice before an increase takes effect. Counsel should set this number.]]
8. Legacy Spreadsheet Products (Etsy)
Before The Ledger, we sold Google Sheets and Excel spreadsheet templates. Those listings remain available in our Etsy shop. This section covers them and nothing else — it does not change any membership term above.
- They are one-time purchases, not memberships. Buying one gives you no access to The Ledger, and a Ledger membership gives you no access to them.
- Etsy purchases are governed by Etsy’s terms of use, and are processed and refunded by Etsy under Etsy’s policies. Paddle is not involved. We honor Etsy’s processes for those orders.
- Files already delivered to you remain yours, under the personal license in Section 9. Nothing here takes away a file you already have.
- Support for legacy files is best-effort: if you hit a genuine technical problem (a broken link, a corrupt file, a formula error), email us and we’ll troubleshoot or replace it.
- We are not making new spreadsheet products. Legacy files receive no guaranteed updates and are provided as-is.
9. License and Permitted Use
Your membership gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use The Ledger for managing your own finances, for as long as your account is in good standing. A legacy spreadsheet purchase gives you the same kind of personal license in that file. You get a license to use our products, not ownership of them.
You may:
- Use the tools for your own personal finances
- Enter your own data, customize your inputs, save your work
- Export your own data out of The Ledger, whenever you want
- Use a legacy spreadsheet file you bought in your own Google account or in Excel
- Quote brief excerpts (under 100 words) of our blog or educational content with a link back
You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, or share our products with others
- Share your account login
- Sell our product under your own name or brand
- Republish the full content of any product, blog post, or video on another site
- Use the product to provide a competing service, or to train AI or machine-learning models
- Reverse-engineer the app to extract formulas, code, or design
- Scrape the website or app systematically
Violation of this section may result in account termination and, in serious cases, legal action.
10. Acceptable Use of the Platform
When using the website or the app, you agree not to:
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users’ accounts or our systems
- Upload malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the site beyond what robots.txt permits
- Harass, threaten, or defame anyone — including us — through any submission, comment, or communication
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Submit false or misleading information, including in account registration or refund requests
- Interfere with the normal operation of the site or app
We monitor for abuse and we will act on it.
11. Account Termination
11a. Termination by you
You can cancel your membership at any time from your profile (Section 4c). That ends the billing but keeps your account and your data.
If you want the account gone entirely, you can delete it yourself from your profile, immediately — or email [email protected] with “Close Account” in the subject and we’ll do it for you. Export anything you want to keep first (Section 4f). Closing your account does not create a refund beyond the 30-day window in Section 5.
11b. Termination by us
We may suspend or terminate your account, without refund, if you:
- Materially breach these Terms (for example, redistributing a product or sharing credentials at scale)
- Engage in fraudulent activity (payment fraud, or chargebacks filed without ever contacting us — we would have refunded you)
- Abuse our support team or other users
- Use the platform to violate any law
For non-severe violations, we will email you first and give you a chance to fix the issue. For severe violations (fraud, illegal activity), we may terminate immediately.
11c. Effect of termination
When your account is terminated, your right to access The Ledger ends. We will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data first, except in cases of severe abuse or where the law requires otherwise.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on the website, in the app, and in our products — including text, design, formulas, layouts, code, graphics, logos, and video — is the intellectual property of Credit And Cashmere LLC, protected by US copyright and other laws.
You receive a license to use our products (Section 9), not ownership. The financial data you enter into The Ledger is yours, not ours — see the Privacy Policy.
DMCA: If you believe content on our site infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to [email protected] with “DMCA Takedown Notice” in the subject. Include: a description of the work, the URL on our site, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the copyright owner or an authorized agent.
13. Testimonials and Comments
This section covers the two places your own words might end up on our site. It is deliberately narrow: we do not run an advice column, and we do not publish answers to individual money questions.
13a. Testimonials and reviews
If you send us a testimonial or review — by email, in a form, in a survey, or in a public post that you tag us in — you give Credit And Cashmere LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, display, reproduce, and lightly edit it for marketing purposes: on our website, in emails, in social posts, and in advertising.
- Editing means trimming for length and fixing typos. We will not edit your words to say something you did not say, or to imply a result you did not describe.
- We may publish it alongside your first name and last initial, or a name you choose. Tell us how you want to be credited and we will use that. If you would rather be anonymous, say so and you will be.
- We do not pay for testimonials, and we do not offer anything in exchange for one. If that ever changes, the relationship will be disclosed on the testimonial itself, as the FTC requires.
- You confirm the testimonial is your own honest experience, and that you are happy for it to be public.
- You can withdraw it. Email [email protected] and we will take it down from anything we control, within a reasonable time. We cannot claw back a printed brochure or someone else’s screenshot, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Your results are yours, not a promise to anyone else. A testimonial describes one person’s experience. It is not a guarantee, a projection, or a typical result — see the Disclaimer.
13b. Comments, if we ever enable them
We do not currently run comments. If we ever do, these rules apply from the moment they open:
- You must be 18 or older to post.
- You keep ownership of what you write, and you give us a licence to display it on the site.
- What you post must be your own, and must not be defamatory, harassing, hateful, unlawful, spam, or an infringement of anyone else’s rights.
- Do not post anyone’s personal or financial details — including your own. This is a personal finance site; account numbers and balances do not belong in a public comment box.
- Comments are other readers’ opinions, not financial advice, and not endorsed by us.
- We may remove any comment, for any reason, without notice, and we are under no obligation to monitor or keep any of it.
14. AI Tools
Credit & Cashmere uses AI tools to help draft content, generate ideas, and produce educational materials. All AI-assisted content is reviewed by a human at Credit & Cashmere before publication.
AI can be wrong. Formulas can be wrong. Educational content is not tailored to your situation. Always fact-check anything you’re about to act on financially, and consult a licensed professional for decisions that matter. See the Disclaimer for the full picture.
We do not use your data to train AI models. The numbers you enter into The Ledger are never fed into any machine-learning system, ours or anyone else’s.
15. Disclaimers
15a. Not financial advice
Credit And Cashmere LLC is not a financial advisor, CPA firm, registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, debt counselor, tax professional, or law firm. Our products are organizational and educational tools, not financial advice. Nothing in our content, products, or communications constitutes professional financial, investment, tax, or legal advice tailored to you. The brand may employ or collaborate with licensed professionals (including CPAs and other subject-matter experts) to develop content, but those individuals are not acting as your personal professional, have no engagement with you, and are not liable for your decisions. See the full Disclaimer.
15b. No guarantees
We do not guarantee any specific financial result, debt payoff timeline, savings amount, credit score change, or outcome. Results depend entirely on your circumstances and your actions.
15c. “As is” service
The platform, the tools, and all content are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate.
You are responsible for verifying any calculation or projection before relying on it.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Credit And Cashmere LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our products or platform — including loss of profits, loss of opportunity, financial damages, or data loss.
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of our products is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.
- Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations of liability; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Credit And Cashmere LLC, its members, employees, contractors, and agents from any claim, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the platform, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the platform will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Informal resolution first: Before filing any formal claim, please email [email protected] with the details. Most issues can be resolved in a single conversation.
Nothing in this section removes any right you have to bring a claim in your local courts where the consumer law of your country gives you that right.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when our business, products, or legal landscape changes. When we make material changes, we’ll:
- Update the “Last updated” date at the top
- Email account holders for significant changes — and always for changes to pricing, renewal, or refund terms
- Give you a chance to review, and to cancel, before the new Terms take effect on your membership
Continued use of the platform after an update means you accept the new Terms. If you don’t agree, cancel your membership and close your account.
20. Miscellaneous
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver: If we don’t enforce a right immediately, we haven’t waived it.
- Entire agreement: These Terms, plus the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimer, are the complete agreement between you and Credit And Cashmere LLC — together with Paddle’s buyer terms, which govern the payment itself (Section 3b).
- Assignment: You can’t transfer your account or these Terms to anyone else. We may assign them as part of a business sale or restructure.
